Simpson’s IKEA parody

January 26th, 2007

Since i’m in a lack for things to post in the current holding pattern I’ll post this for the four people in the universe who haven’t seen it already… (Hey I am surprised as you are that there are actual people who HAVEN’T seen The Simpson’s.)

Probably the best IKEA parody ever, hands down.

(I’m a Springfield, Ohio native, where the show is HUGELY popular and we firmly believe the show takes place there… so this post is even Ohio related!)

Jessica’s house

January 22nd, 2007

Jessica is a Ohioan, and a interior designer who like so many others of us is dying waiting for our IKEA to come. In the meantime she’s not going into any withdrawl anytime soon as Jessica lives in an IKEA catalog.

I think I hate Jessica. (Kidding!)

New! Ikea Spam!

November 27th, 2006

Ikea is hot, must be because now it’s appearing daily in spam I’m getting.

Email with subjects claiming I’ve won IKEA giftcards, or titled with IKEA then it ends up being Viagra or mystery stock tips.

Still no news on the construction front, I passed by today and nothing. (and man, it would be a NICE week to start too, it’s just amazing outside! 60 degrees and sunny, it was 70 most of the weekend!)

The West Chester site has a great long retaining pond… I would die to do a manned cardboard viking longship regata there during the camp out week.* It would be killer fun and much more fun if the opening is indeed moved to spring.

Looks as if I’ll be headed up to IKEA Canton (MI) for the after xmas sale, anyone else going? Let me know what you have planned and when and maybe we can hook up for lunch.

REMINDERS:
If you want a catalog to get your juices flowing while you wait for the next year you best order one soon, they usually run out after xmas.

I still want pictures of your IKEA room makeovers! Send the pics to my email or upload them to the IKEA West Chester Flickr Photo Pool.

* Yes I know Vikings are more Danish, but in America any language with an umlaut counts…

Ikea’s Black Friday Offerings

November 21st, 2006

What’s on sale at IKEA for the day after Thanksgiving.

Fire up the Tivo!

November 4th, 2006

“IKEA Mania” on Discovery Times Channel filmed in 2003 will air once again at 11am on November 10th.

It really is very interesting. Worth seeing for all IKEA fans. They go a lot into the history and design processes, and show all kinds of behind the scenes stuff.

Don’t miss it!

hIKEAku

September 29th, 2006

I have a talent of being able to write silly silly haiku.

On my other blog I tend to write them for product recommendations or just “klassy” stories… visiting the IKEA site yesterday made me want to write another haiku or two. Here goes…

The lot is still bare.
Empty. Empty like my soul,
Why is it not here?

If I squint my eyes
I see a blue box upon
Huge piles of cash

IKEA virgins
Prepare your orgasmic dance
While heaven is built

GILLE are my fave
Crisp buttery Havreflarn
A ton for four bucks.

Meatballs, yum, meatballs
Two for a dollar
Ligonberry reigns supreme

Okay, I think that gets it out of my system. I’m still watching for ANY action at the location, still nothing. But i was told mid- October and we aren’t there yet.

Got some time to blow?

August 25th, 2006

My IKEA Playlist on YouTube is 7 pages of IKEA videdos. They are in no particular order other than the first 6 pages are international commericals and the ones at the end are entertaining fan made ones.

NOTE: Click the (>) button in the center of the video picture to play inline, cliking elsewhere will open a new page.

Some of the commercials are a bit racy/controversial (mostly the foreign ones), but all are extremely funny (especially this one and this one). I’ll be adding more as I find them, but just the ones I have took me several hours of surfing on YouTube to find.

Enjoy!

IKEA Mania Documentary

August 23rd, 2006

As I’ve published before there is a IKEA documentary on the DiscoveryTimes Channel that airs occasionally. (I know DirectTv has the channel as that’s how I get it.) It’s a great show to watch.

Reader Ruby says it’s airing again tomorrow (8/24) at 11 am eastern. I can’t get my stuff of my Tivo currently but maybe someone else can help her and slap it up on Vimeo or youTube or something. Let me know if you do.

Fun in the sun

August 22nd, 2006

Dave Lowrey writes:

Thought you might like this photo taken at the RibberFest at Madison, IN last weekend. It’s my Wife and it was rather sunny there last Saturday, so we popped open our handy dandy $3.00 Ikea Umbrellas and we were all set!

I carry one in my truck for rain or shine as well! Everytime I go I pick up at least one. Some I give away, some I just forget - but for $3 you can’t beat an IKEA umbrella.
