Shop the IKEA Winter Sale early and be the first to save 20-60%

The link has the info.

For people in the west and southwest corner of Ohio I think Detroit/Canton is the way to go. It’s like over twice the size of Pittsburgh and half as far.

And so this post isn’t just more swede-shilling, here’s an article about IKEA founder Ingvar Klampad and his famous ‘thrifty billionaire’ title.

Official Press stuff

IKEA West Chester, to open in Fall 2007, will be 1st IKEA store in Ohio, 5th in Midwest - is now up on IKEA.com

And thanks to WCPO’s (CH.9) Internet Site Director Liz Foreman for answering my desperate plea and fixing the IKEA press conference video links.

Watch it here: Two parts, look on the right side next to the article. Little camera icons… not much but it’s all there is.

It’s Official!

Ikea on the way!
Video!!

I really can’t take any credit for this, I just wanted to be a conduit of gossip of IKEA coming to Ohio. Gossip came to me. I called people, I chased leads… but that’s all I did. We didn’t do any petitions, or anything, we were just here waiting with baited breath. Noisy enough for IKEA to pay attention to us, but no so much we caused them to do anything they were’nt already thinking of. Nosey but harmless.

Thanks to all of you for joining on my silly bandwagon.

So, What’s next? This blog will monitor construction and opening. Then after that, it will serve as a fan blog showing room makeovers, deals, sales and the like. Ohikea has only just begun!

Woo Hoo!

The Announcement we’ve all waited so long for has come! IKEA is coming to Ohio! WEST CHESTER OHIO! Okay well the OFFICIAL one comes tomorrow, but the info in all these sources matches mine to the letter, Joseph Roth has given a “no comment” and he always usually has SOMETHING to say. I’m calling it true.

Here’s the Location! Mulhauser and Allen in West Chester, along 75, southwest side of the Union Center exit.

I learned all this on Thursday, I’ve been DYINGGGG to tell everyone, but couldn’t. Now that all hell has broken loose and I’ve made it into town to get to wifi from my lovely vacation in NW rural PA. Since the info matches what I was told I’m gonna jump on the bandwagon and be the last to tell everyone! Not what I hoped for, but *I* have a snazzy graphic.

Joseph Roth was tormenting me last week when I wrote him regarding the august ninth date that had come and gone. Im not sure I like him anymore ;)
I won’t be there for the announcement, but they’ll have to hire security to keep me away from the groundbreaking.

More articles to be added here shortly!

Sign up to get yours!
You have to tell them each year you want one, so go back every summer to make sure you get on the list.

Until yours comes, use the online version. I don’t think it’s shipped yet. The online one is much easier to use than past years, but nothing beats the real thing.

Petition? Pfft. Amatuers.

July 2nd, 2006

From a Durham/Raleigh North Carolina Paper:

Fans go online to woo Ikea

Ikea, a Swedish retailer of home furnishings, must be feeling the love from this region.

A Raleigh woman and fan of the chain’s stores is compiling hundreds of signatures on an online petition to get the retailer to open a store in the Triangle.

Petition organizer Leigh Williams wants 2,000 signatures before sending them to Ikea’s corporate office. She said petitioning online is cheaper and allows her to connect with more people of shared interest than sidewalk signature gathering.

Her effort highlights the role of the Internet as a place to campaign for causes, organize events and connect with the like-minded.

Jen says: IKEA knows exactly how many fans they have in North Carolina, they monitor thier catalog mailings and zipcodes when you check out. Only 2,000 signtures? That’s hardly enough to bother over. And besides, petitions are so last century. If she wants real return on her interest: build a site, build an audience, build some buzz… build it and the people, and IKEA, will come. But hey, good luck with that all the same. Everyone should have an IKEA.

6 days till grand opening in Canton Michigan… who’s going to it, or for that matter, going with me on the 24th for the OHIKEA trip?
