Dayton Daily News
Here we go again. Is this phase two of the media circus that will likely escalate if the rumors about the 9th are true?
This time it’s the “DDN”. It’s only taken this long to get into my favorite local paper, but again it’s for this site. It’s a nice article with some funny bits. (Okay, okay, I get distracted by shiny things too… it’s a family trait.)
It’s a destination… It’s a lifestyle… It’s a furniture store… It’s IKEABy Stephanie Irwin
And don’t miss the Ikea Primer Sidebar for the article.
You might have to give some basic marketing info to read these (age, gender, zip), no biggie.
(And to clarify, I’m not crusading for West Chester per se, just that’s where the tips are all coming in for! It just so happens to be a bonus that it could be there since it’s only a few miles away from my house in Middletown.)
If you’d like to pay homage to Saint Tokig, do it here.

IKEA possibility for area has longtime fan excited - Yeah, in something again.
This is actually a really nice article for a small weekly township paper. Kudos to them!
Another confirmation that news maybe coming soon, god only knows, it’s been said “answer in about two weeks” for nearly two weeks so far.

The wheel is still spinning from last week… Keen on Ikea.
Article is about location speculation, focused mostly on Columbus, but that’s where the paper is. But no new candidates are in there that haven’t been mentioned before. OKIKEA mention near the bottom.

If no news is good news, then tons of news is not good news? Maybe.
News story with OHIKEA again…. Nothing new but some more good info about the Ohio situation and always worth the read.

I about fell off my chair when I saw THIS VERY SITE featured in a Local news story about IKEA coming to Ohio (maybe) and West Chester, specifically. (Maybe.) All in all what little info was given was not much more than I gave today earlier (did I scoop them?) or have said in the past.
Anyway, as I live in the Cinci metro area I was a little surprised as I was the last to know about any of this (Helloooo I’m local! It would have been an EASY interview!)
Anyway, the reporter, John London, got one *little* detail wrong…THIS SITE HAS NO RELATION TO IKEA. They don’t run it. (If they did it’d be better written and far less rambly and would have more information…) The most I can say is IKEA knows this blog exists, and sometimes even gives it to reporters to contact me on the Ohio angle - but that’s all! I exist and IKEA knows it. I’m so cool.
I’m just a IKEA fangirl who likes to buy cheap designy niceness, and pretend she’s a journalist. That’s all.
You can see the news story video here (click below, and the video link is on the right)
I called the News Director and emailed Mr London, the reporter, to clarifiy that THIS IS NOT A IKEA SITE, and we’ll just have to see if they correct the mistake.
BTW, Since my audience is so big today I should mention I’m a highly skilled webdesigner and I’m looking for work… hint hint.

Well, OHIKEA is in the news again… I tell you when I started this thing I never in a million years thought a little site with less than 100 posts would get so much attention.
“Could Ohio be next? - Cleveland Plain Dealer (June 20, 2006, page C1)
I talked to the reporter a number of times, I would have expected more in the article, but that’s okay, I’m told they used a screen shot of OHIKEA for one of the article photos so that more than makes up for it.

I don’t even remember talking to these people. They must have abreviated the AP story or something.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this article on the Google News alert I have set up for IKEA news. Not often you see your name as the first words of an article.
Ikea fanatics prepare to invade suburban Detroit
For all those wondering where all these reporters are coming from to talk to little old me, believe it or not IKEA themselves has been reffering journalists here to see the Ohio interest. That’s basically a blessing from above with some magical ligonberry holy water.
I was told they liked the and found it quite flattering. They also like branding and consumer hype, and well we got that in spades. I have more rumor info (Southwestern Ohioans stay tuned), but that’s for another post.
So if you wonder if all your comments here are being see by IKEA, I can say this - Yup. Keep it up!

With IKEA opening in Detroit I’ve been getting calls from all kinds of reporters the last couple weeks looking for quotes to fill up articels about the opening (Seems OHIKEA comes up very high on most search engines when searching for IKEA, muhahah!).
The latest is the Cincinnati Enquirer in this article and in these shopping tips which I assume was a inset in the article itself.
I’ve also talked to a Detroit newspaper or two, but can’t remember who, if anyone knows, drop me a line.

A couple of weeks ago it was BusinessWeek and now it’s local!
My crack network of sources (OH IKEA commentors, as well as my own mom) tell me that the article I interviewed with a “Cincinnati Magazine” writer a few times for about the city trying to lure destination retailers - and that Cincinnatian’s are crying out for an IKEA - is in the December issue of Cincinnati Magazine (The signature “Best of Cincinnati” issue!).
It’s just hitting newsstands right now, even I don’t have a copy and I live here! I’ll be hitting Kroger’s all week trying to get my own copy now.
If you have one (I’m told it’s on page 80) If you came here from the article please be sure to comment and say so! I love hearing how everyone found this site.
But, even if you didn’t find it from CinciMag, let me know how you found OHIKEA!
